Senate Race File #007 — Alaska
Session 2 Update | August 2026
SESSION 2 UPDATE — AIPAC CONFIRMED FLAGGED (SULLIVAN)
WHAT CHANGED SINCE SESSION 1: A nonpartisan outlet (Alaska Public Media, reporting directly from FEC
filings) confirms AIPAC conveyed approximately $250,000 in pass-through individual contributions to Sullivan's
2026 campaign specifically — a real, current-cycle, direct AIPAC figure, not the "other pro-Israel PAC" pattern
seen in NC and Texas. Peltola's 2026 cycle shows no AIPAC money found (Emily's List $44,000 is her
comparable conduit); her AIPAC connection remains tied to her 2024 House race only, as Session 1 already
noted.
Alaska uses a unique voting system. All candidates run together on one nonpartisan primary ballot, and the top
four vote-getters advance to a ranked-choice general election. Nonpartisan primary: August 18, 2026. General:
November 3, 2026. Trump won Alaska by 13 points in 2024, but Peltola is the only Democrat to win statewide
in Alaska since 2008 — and she is currently polling ahead of Sullivan.
CANDIDATE A — DAN SULLIVAN (R)
Republican incumbent | U.S. Senator since 2015 | Marine Corps Colonel (Reserve) | Age 61 | Fairview Park, OH born
Sullivan grew up in Ohio, not Alaska. He moved to the state as an adult, married into an Alaskan family,
and built his political career there. He served as Alaska's Attorney General and Commissioner of Natural
Resources before winning the Senate seat in 2014.
THE FACTS — VOTING RECORD
Healthcare
Sullivan voted to cut Medicaid as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Healthcare costs in Alaska are
already among the highest in the nation. Sullivan is rated as Alaska's third least popular senator in part
because of healthcare cuts.
Fisheries — A Critical Alaska Issue
Sullivan supports allowing unsustainable trawling in Alaskan waters — a major issue where fishing is not
just an industry but culture and survival for Alaska Native communities.
Trump Alignment
Sullivan has largely voted in lockstep with Trump's agenda — backing cuts to public radio, food
assistance, and healthcare programs that rural Alaskans depend on.

NOTE
Q1 2026
fundraising
$1.7 million raised Q1 2026 — well behind Peltola's $8.9 million same quarter.
$7 million cash on hand from prior cycles.
AIPAC MONEY:
CONFIRMED FLAGGED — ~$250,000 in AIPAC pass-through contributions to the
current campaign, per nonpartisan reporting. This is no longer a pending item.
OIL INDUSTRY / DARK MONEY: FLAGGED — Career history of oil and energy industry funding.
ARCHITECT ANALYSIS — DAN SULLIVAN (updated): This closes the loop Session 1 left open, and it's a
real one — $250,000 in AIPAC-conveyed money is not a rounding error, and it came from a nonpartisan
outlet doing its own FEC review, not an advocacy tracker's framing. Combined with his existing oil-industry
funding history and his voting record on Medicaid, public radio, and trawling, Sullivan now carries a fully
documented case on both automatic disqualifying flags.
CANDIDATE B — MARY PELTOLA (D)
Democrat | Former U.S. Representative Alaska At-Large 2022–2025 | Yup'ik Alaska Native | Age 52 | Bethel, Alaska
Mary Peltola is Yup'ik. She grew up along the Kuskokwim River and served 10 years in the Alaska state
legislature before winning Alaska's at-large congressional seat in 2022 — becoming the first Alaska
Native ever elected to Congress. She lost her House seat in 2024 by only 6,722 votes in a state Trump
won by 13 points.
THE FACTS — RECORD
Fisheries — Her Signature Issue
Peltola secured a ban on foreign trawled fish after 30 years of delays and introduced legislation to protect
salmon populations from unsustainable pollock trawling.
Infrastructure
Peltola brought home over $9 billion for Alaska infrastructure and rural broadband.
Bipartisan Record
Peltola is a Blue Dog Democrat who regularly broke with her party, including supporting the
ConocoPhillips Willow oil project.

NO EVIDENCE FOUND
THIS CYCLE — leaning
clean, 2024 House-cycle
AIPAC link remains on
record
No AIPAC pass-through contributions found in nonpartisan reporting
on the 2026 Senate race specifically. Her documented AIPAC
connection is from her 2024 House campaign (part of a $96,546
career pro-Israel-PAC total tracked by TrackAIPAC, which also
includes J Street, JDCA, DMFI, and JAC across her career) — not
the current Senate race.
NOTE
Emily's List
~$44,000 steered through Emily's List — a PAC supporting
Democratic women who back abortion rights — acting as her
comparable conduit in this race, per the same nonpartisan report.
CLEAN
$8.9 million raised Q1 2026 — vast majority from individual donors.
More Alaska in-state donors than Sullivan in raw numbers.
Small
donors /
grassroots
AIPAC MONEY:
NO EVIDENCE FOUND, 2026 CYCLE — the 2024 House-race AIPAC conduit
connection stays on the record as history, but is not repeating in this Senate race per current reporting.
BILLIONAIRE / DARK MONEY: NO MAJOR DARK MONEY FOUND — predominantly small-donor funded.
ARCHITECT ANALYSIS — MARY PELTOLA (updated): The 2026 picture is cleaner for Peltola than
Session 1 left it — no fresh AIPAC money found in this race, with Emily's List playing the equivalent conduit
role instead. Her 2024 AIPAC history stays in the file because it happened and voters should know it, but it
should not be presented as an active flag on her current Senate bid without new evidence, and none has
surfaced.
STATUS: SESSION 2 COMPLETE. Sullivan's AIPAC flag is now CONFIRMED via nonpartisan reporting. Peltola's 2026-
cycle AIPAC status reads clean; her 2024 history is preserved as context, not an active flag. Nonpartisan primary August
18, 2026. RCV general November 3.
CHANGELOG (Session 2, August 2026):
— Sullivan AIPAC status: PENDING → CONFIRMED FLAGGED (~$250,000 pass-through contributions, 2026 cycle, per
Alaska Public Media/FEC review)
— Added distinction between TrackAIPAC's $131,100+ career-total figure (advocacy tracker, all cycles) and the $250,000
2026-cycle-specific figure (nonpartisan outlet) — these are not additive
— Peltola AIPAC status: PENDING → no evidence found for 2026 cycle; 2024 House-cycle history preserved as context, not
treated as an active flag
— Updated Q1 2026 fundraising figures for both candidates
